For sure it is... No way Tavares agrees to this, his agent would probably drop him if he did!! |

Not a bad idea if they were cup favorites, but I think Toronto needs D more than they need JT. |

One of the dumbest things I have ever read on this site. One year deal works for players that need to prove last years bad season was a fluke or is coming off a major injury. No matter where he signs he is getting no less than 70mm. Why would he risk that for a 1 year deal. All it takes is one cheap shot to the head and 56mm down the drain because of a 1 year deal. |

Everyone is just wasting their time- he's going to re-sign with the Islanders. |

Mike Augello has been mentioning this for a while now as a "What if" scenario, but today was the first time I have heard it from an actual NHL source... - Ek
So you don't consider Mike in Buffalo to be an actual NHL source?
Wow, Ek.
That's cold. |

Theoretically, if he resigns with the Islanders upon finding out the ultimate cap number (and therefore gets himself the appropriate % of the cap), he just took that gamble this past year, when he could have resigned last offseason. Marian Hossa took this risk. He'd make $16M, which combined with his 6/33 contract with NYI, would give him $49M over the last 7 years of hockey. It's not the craziest idea, since he'd be set for life already. He'd get one year to try and win in his home city, and then cash in for real next offseason.
But it's all moot, since he'll be an Islander for life. |

56mm isn't that much.
It's 5.6 cm. |

why the (frank) would tavares sign a 1 year deal? If he has a career ending injury, he misses out on 50 million |

why would anyone take a 1 year deal when they don't have to? What would happen if he had a career ending injury during his 1 year contract? Too much risk for JT to wear |

For the team it would be a smart move but for the player why would they take the risk? |
